François Halma was a pressman and publisher in Utrecht, Amsterdam (1699–1710) and Leeuwarden. He authored works ranging from poetry and dictionaries to an anthology of Reformed church music and translations of the works of Pierre Bayle. See: NNBW, vol. 6, col. 690.
